Each student's curriculum is based on the goals and objectives stated in his/her                                         Individual Service Plan (ISP). The methods for achieving each goal are included                                                     in the specially designed instruction area of the ISP.

Our functional academic reading program is presented through the Edmark Reading Series along with many other supplementary materials. For students who evidence stronger reading potential the Leveled Readers Program from Houghton Mifflin Company has been built into our program.

The Saxon Mathematics Program has proven beneficial to our students because concepts are taught and reinforced through the use of manipulatives, drill and practice. This program is supplemented with many other materials to address functional skills such as time and money skills.

Life skills are taught and stressed throughout the program. These include, but are not limited to, dressing, eating, self-care, social and behavioral skills. Especially at the high school site, life skills are stressed in the areas of the following:

1. culinary arts 2. consumer economics 3. maintenance skills 4. work behaviors 5. functional life skills academics (time, money, estimates, vocabulary)

In addition, community based instruction is included at the high school site. This type instruction has proved to be very beneficial in allowing our students to experience every day life skills activities.

Speech and language development are key elements that are stressed on a daily basis. Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy are offered to our students as needed. Music Therapy and Physical Education are also a part of the school curriculum. A part-time work experience teacher provides additional instruction stressing job skills and appropriate workplace behaviors to help students move from practicing these skills to actual work. Consultation with a Behavioral Therapist is available for each student on an as needed basis.

Every classroom is equipped with Smartboard Technology.  The Smartboard is a great                                            visual and interactive tool that engages the students on my different levels.  There are three                                    computer labs with up-to-date computers and supervised internet access.
